Inverted Pin Conveyor
The inverted pin conveyor is used to positively track individual garments. Once the garments have been separated using the GBI singulator mechanism, each garment is separately conveyed by the inverted pin, which pushes the hanger along the track.
This conveyor is utilized to make divert point decisions on an individual garment basis such as when separating garments by specific sort criteria. The operating system is configured to receive instructions from the Host system determining how the garments should be separated. These instructions may be changed from time to time as the customer sees fit, or the system may be programmed to make those decisions on the fly.
This conveyor may turn left, right, up or down and therefore may be used in an in-line (over-under) formation or as a racetrack layout.

Drag Link Conveyor
The drag link conveyor is used for conveying garments for conveying and accumulating garments without regard to individual tracking. This conveyor is particularly used for buffering larger volumes of garments into a smaller area. As the garments are brought in with the drag links they are bunched up against the stop position compressing the garments into a smaller area. Once released the garments are taken away singularly or in small bunches expanding them away from each other as they are taken away.
This conveyor may turn left, right, up or down and therefore may be used in an in-line (over-under) formation or as a racetrack layout.
Other Components:
There are numerous components to enhance the sort or add more functionality to the sorters depending on your requirements. These are just a few. |

Pneumatically Activated Diverts
GBI's hanging garment diverters are positively and pneumatically activated to ensure a fast, positive and full activation. There are few moving parts to help ensure long life and minimal maintenance. There are four styles of this divert. A left hand and right hand divert and for both clockwise and counter-clockwise conveyor directions.
Pneumatic Singulator Mechanism
GBI's pneumatically activated singulator mechanism is used to receive groups of hanging garments and separate them individually for independent conveyance. Garments are usually received from accumulation buffers using the GBI Drag Link Conveyor, then run through the GBI Singulator Mechanism for separation to be then transported using the GBI Inverted Pin Conveyor for individual sortation.
The singulator mechanism itself is connected to the GBI controls to activate the mechanism as needed helping to extend the life of the mechanism.

Identification
Just about any form of identification can be employed with GBI's systems. Barcode scanners, vision systems, RF devices or otherwise may be situated along the conveyor path as needed to identify the product being sorted. Multiple inputs may also be employed to pick up garment identification from different locations such as with pants and shirts, or by detecting different identification tags such as bar codes and RF tags. |

Crossed Hanger Detection
GBI has also developed a device to detect crossed hangers when it is necessary to ensure that each garment has been separated. This device is usually located after the singulator mechanism when it is important to have only one garment per carrier. This device reduces missorts by reducing the chances of having a second garment coming along for the ride with the identified garment and becoming lost in the process.
The Crossed Hanger detect uses a very accurate series of sensors strategically located to measure the thickness of the hangers as they are conveyed at a high rate of speed. Should the Crossed Hanger Detect sense a thickness in excess of the appropriate measurement the carrier will be diverted for re-induction immediately after the device and in the loading area. Hanger measurements are adjustable for the style hanger used in each individual distribution center or laundry. |
